A Few Words About Me

My interest in art has always been present since I was a kid. My parents took my brother and I to pottery and art classes which fostered a creative, artistic way in which to see the world. However, it wasn’t until an Honors Geometry assignment in 9th grade where I was tasked with finding and capturing shapes, angles, lines, patterns, symmetry, and reflections in buildings and structures that I began to take photography and art seriously. I was first introduced to the serenity and calmness of photography, as well as the attention to detail photography requires. My art is inspired by race, class, and social issues that affect my community as a whole. I find joy in what might be thought of as simple and ordinary - A smile across one’s face, or a toddler denied a candy bar at the register of the grocery store followed by a tantrum. I try to capture and share imagery that tells stories of my community. I focus on organic, authentic moments, for in these moments beauty and meaning are revealed.
